Back from camp

I got back from camp yesterday. The bus ride was LONG. It was five hours and fifteen minutes when it was only supposed to be four hours. For that bus ride, an hour and fifteen minutes makes a BIG difference.

Camp was really fun though, even though it rained off and on throughout the week. We just couldn't do rock climbing sometimes, because the climbing tower was too slippery. The cold air made the lake water feel really warm, which was great while you were in the water, but when you came out, you just about froze, especially when it was windy.

The food was pretty good this year, as we had new chefs. I loved the baked oatmeal and the blondies. Baked oatmeal is sort of like oatmeal in cake form. It's sort of hard to explain. Blondies are like brownies, except that they aren't chocolate. Anyways, they're really good.

My dad's friend from work and his wife came over for dinner last night. They were really nice. We had a whole theme for dinner, Indian food. It was actually really good. I loved the Tandoori chicken, it was so moist, and it wasn't extremely spicy, either. The rice was really good too, it tasted almost sweet. Pretty much all the food was great.

I'm happy to be home, even though camp was great. I was starting to miss Mu and Sam and Az, and everyone else as well.

Last day of school!

Today was the last day of school! WOOT! Finally, no more school to make my brain hurt. XD. My teacher still made us do work though. Oh well. It's not like I said she was nice. I gave her chocolates anyways, just 'cause I always get presents for my teachers. I also got some chocolates for Grace, since she's so awesome. All the chocolates were from Purdy's. Purdy's chocolates are AMAZING. We got to try some in the store, the cute little hedgehog ones with the hazelnut filling.

We got to go outside for ten minutes today before the bell rang. We played manhunt, but we didn't get to finishing the game. For those of you that don't know, manhunt is like tag, but once your it, the person who got you is still it as well, and you keep going till everyone's it.

I took lots of pictures of everyone in my class today. Some of them actually turned out pretty well, for snapshots, that is.

I cut my tongue today on... a lollipop. Yes, a lollipop. Stupid as it sounds, it hurt TONS. It's not bleeding as much anymore though, so that's good.

Smoking Ants

I found a magnifying glass, so I tried burning some ants. If you think that it's cruel to burn living things alive (I do) don't worry, the ants were already dead. No torture involved. So anyways, I focused the light on the body, and it actually started smoking! No fire, of course, it wasn't hot enough for that (the temperature was 23 Celsius) but it was still really cool! I just burned a few leaves after that, nothing much.

Then I was looking at all the bees pollinating the flowers with the magnifying glass, and it was really cool! I could see all the little fuzzy hairs on their backs. They were mostly on the raspberry flowers. I think those must be there favorites.

Today was Bianca's (my best friend) last day of school. Tomorrow she and her family are driving all the way to North Carolina, then driving from there to Miami, and then taking a plan from Miami to Honduras, where she was born. She's really excited. She made a card for our bus driver, Grace, (who ROCKS!) and she really liked it. I'm really going to miss Bianca, but at least she'll be having fun.

My last day of school is on the 25th, so I still have a few days left. My brother's leaving tonight at six to go camping for the Air Cadets thing. I hope he has fun there. I have no idea what they do, all I know is that they have a comfort station there. That's all the flight leaders told them. He's coming back on Sunday, I think.

Got traded

I got traded to another soccer team. NO!! Oh well.... Nothing I can really do about it.

I got my jersey last night. It's red, again. The coach I have now always chooses red. So the shirt part's red, white, and black, the socks are red, and the shorts are black. Picture Day's on Saturday at 11:15, but we have to go early because the parking is always horrible. The only thing I don't like about picture day is having to tuck in my shirt. It's itchy.

We played against my old team last night... That was sort of hard for me. The score was 3 to 1, with my new team winning. I scored the winning goal. I suppose that should make me feel good, but it doesn't. Not really.

Soccer Tonight

So, I have my second soccer game tonight. We're playing on a different field than last time, but still in the same location. I saw a girl I haven't seen for two years today. Wow, she looks different. She's really tall, and has cool make up. I didn't really ever get to know her that well, but it's sorta nice to see her, even if all I did was walk past her. She lives just over a few streets from my house, but I hardly ever see her.

Fifth Place

I got fifth place in track and field today, running long jump, in the semi-finals. I just missed going to the city finals. To go to the city finals, you have to get fourth and above for my grade. Next year it changes to third and above. I did pretty well though, considering how tired I was. My best jump was 3 m and 6 cm. The person who got first place got 3 m 21 cm.

I met my best friend by my old school today, and it was really awkward. Neither of us really knew what to say. I hardly see her anymore. This is only the second time I've seen her since going to my new school last year.

Humane Mouse Trap

I'm sick again today, so I had to stay home from school, and I had lots of free time. My parents caught a mouse in that horrible trap they use, so I searched the internet for humane ones I could make myself, because.... I don't think that the mice deserve to die just because of what they are. All they're trying to do is survive.

Inhumane Mouse Trap
The evil trap.

I found a few, and decided to use the bottle one, because it was really easy to make, unlike the others. I couldn't find a two liter bottle though, so I had to use a smaller one. I hope the mouse can't escape from it. I put harvest crunch cereal and soy nuts in the bottom as bait. I think the mice should be able to smell it well enough. I was going to use peanut butter, but I have no idea where my mom keeps it. If I'd known where it was I would've used that instead.

Humane Bottle Mouse Trap
My nice, humane trap.

I put the trap in the same cupboard as where my parents had put that evil, torturous trap, so that I was sure the mice would be able to find it. I hid it from plain view behind some boxes and milk bags that were already there. I'll get a picture of the trap as soon as I can. The batteries from my camera are still charging.

I really hope that the mice go into the trap I made instead of the other one. If they knew the difference, they would. But then again, if they knew the difference, why would they go into the traps at all?
